23 This year’s VeeamON event in Miami packed a wallop – in the best way possible – with four full days of informative, engaging sessions and opportunities to hear from our peers, prospects and customers. It was a blast, and just over two weeks later, I’m still thinking about the experience. My key takeaway: Everyone’s (rightfully) concerned about data protection and ransomware. And while that’s not hugely surprising, it’s refreshing to know that our collective industry is working on new ways to keep data safer and more secure, even in the event of an attack. It’s also validating because it underscores the very ideals we’re championing at Scality. The silver lining: The modern threatscape is pushing innovation in data protection Today’s threat landscape shows us time and time again that ransomware must be thought of as an inevitability, rather than a possibility. That means proactively preparing for an attack and ensuring you’ve created a cyber-resilient organization. At VeeamOn, I heard from speakers and panelists who have learned this lesson the hard way – they thought they were fully protected but then got hit by an attack and lost access to valuable information. We can all imagine just how awful that situation would be. The good news is there are a lot of smart minds working together to help change the status quo and find new ways to ensure data is protected against current and future threats. I had so many interesting conversations with distributors, partners, customers and more about the different approaches they are taking to protect their data.
