Invaluable to developing today’s applications, Kubernetes allows enterprises to develop and deploy cloud-native apps without worrying about the underlying environment and infrastructure, but it’s not without its limitations. Thankfully, a recent innovation is helping to overcome these challenges and open up new possibilities for portable, scalable and resilient application architectures. Beyond block and file: With COSI, Kubernetes users can manage object storage in a standardized, native way Until recently, Kubernetes’ persistent storage mechanism dealt exclusively with block and file storage. However, the Kubernetes community is cooking up something exciting — a new standard: the Container Object Storage Interface (COSI). Through COSI, storage vendors can expose their object storage solution without ever touching Kubernetes code. And application developers will be able to use and manage object storage resources natively through Kubernetes.
