Scality’s leaders have created Le Club to recognize and reward team members selected each year for their exceptional contribution to the company.
Together with this acknowledgment, Le Club members are also offered the opportunity of taking a trip together, to rest and enjoy the Scality spirit outside the workplace.
For the year 2017, 20 employees have been chosen. Scality will publish a profile of a different team member every other week.
Meet Jason Russler
Two years ago, after having worked for several large US government organisations, Jason Russler needed a new challenge to intensify things in his career. So when he had the opportunity to come to Scality, he immediately grabbed it. “I loved the start-up spirit, the fact that everyone works toward the goal and gets everything done. It really appealed to me and I wanted to be part of that,” he confides.
Two years later, Jason shows exactly the same enthusiasm for his work. As a customer solution engineer, his role is to install Scality software at clients according to their requirements and Jason always goes the extra mile to satisfy them. “Jason goes out of his way to make sure every detail is covered even if it isn’t in his job description. A great communicator and an active listener, he takes ownership of technical problems and drives them to their conclusion,” reveals one of his colleagues. Jason adds “I always try to see my customers’ point of view and to be sensitive to their needs, so I can give them exactly what they want.”
The key to Jason’s success? His love for technology combined with his passion for people. Very inquisitive and a fast learner, he knows the product like the back of his hand and has “an unquenchable thirst for solving complex problems”, according to one of his co-workers. At the same time, he likes meeting new people, getting to know them well and being friendly. “The customers immediately feel at ease around him and trust him to fulfill his mission efficiently,” confides one of his colleagues. So it’s no surprise if Jason managed to bring total satisfaction to one of Scality’s most demanding and technical clients, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, one of the largest energy science laboratories in the US.
Today, Jason is really happy in his job, despite the fact that he has to make sacrifices from time to time, like being away from his wife and his six-year-old daughter for a few weeks at a time when he is visiting clients. His satisfaction comes from the feeling that he is providing something valuable for his customers, as well as contributing to his team’s and the company’s success.
And Jason isn’t planing on slowing down. One day, maybe, he would like to have a leadership role, where he can lead projects and make important decisions, so he can have an even bigger impact on the company.
Outside work too, Jason likes to keep busy. He loves spending time with his daughter. As an avid pianist, he enjoys playing difficult pieces of music and composing. Soon, he also hopes to fulfill a dream that he has had since he was a child : getting his pilot license, so he can fly a plane. For Jason, no challenge is too high.
