Scality has been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage for the eighth straight year. In fact, we’ve been positioned in the Leaders quadrant every year that Gartner has issued this particular Magic Quadrant.
This recognition is more than just a pat on the back; it’s important to customers. It helps them feel assured that they are choosing to work with the best solution for their unique needs. Gartner thoroughly evaluates many vendors in this vertical to help buyers assess their options. The evaluations are based on — among other things — our ability to execute, the completeness of our vision, the breadth of our customers and their use cases for our solutions across global geographies.
Here are some strengths Gartner specifically called out regarding Scality in its 2023 Magic Quadrant:
- Proven track record: Since 2013, Scality has offered a unified file and object storage solution. It has a demonstrated track record that includes numerous high-capacity deployments that are intricately distributed across various geographies.
- Software flexibility: Scality attracts customers in search of software-only solutions that can run on a wide range of industry-standard hardware both in the data center and at the edge.
- Strong reliability: RING achieves a data durability of 14 nines through geographically dispersed storage across many data availability zones, which provides advanced data protection.
Another strength in our favor? The joint offerings made possible by the variety and breadth of Scality’s 150+ application and alliance partners.
Doubling down on our commitment to security
As the scourge of ransomware expands, storage has become security. According to the 2023 Veeam Ransomware Trends Report, 93% of ransomware attacks target backups, and 76% of participating enterprises reported losing at least a portion of their backup repositories as a result of an attack.
What companies need today is cyber resilience, which our immutable data storage and backup contribute to. It serves as a last line of defense for mission-critical data.
That’s why we’ve gone all-in on a security focus. Gartner noticed this shift, writing that since the last Magic Quadrant, we’ve added cyber-resiliency features and advanced integration with Veeam Backup & Replication. We’ve also added an enhanced monitoring stack and simplified capacity reporting to Scality RING, now offering it as software appliances with a secured Linux OS. Gartner noted that we are “well-suited for backup, cloud-native apps, hybrid cloud storage and archiving use cases.”
How our security focus is playing out
In the past year, with Scality ARTESCA 2.0, we’ve made a real pivot to cyber-resilient storage, and we are seeing great traction. In fact, in the first three quarters of 2023, we’ve achieved more than a 350% increase in revenue for Scality ARTESCA.
With ARTESCA 2.0, we’re bringing you improved safeguards for your backups, as well as the best last line of security for critical backup data. We’ve made this solution even simpler to deploy for our joint customers with Veeam, with superb backup/restore performance. In the event that a restore is necessary following a ransomware attack or loss event, customers can recover data — and company operations — four to eight times faster than with conventional backup solutions.
We now offer two deployment options, allowing enterprises to select the one that best suits their needs. Customers experience hassle-free efficient growth by deploying ARTESCA either on standard servers or virtual machines. They can start with as little as one physical server or VM and scale to many as their data grows and needs evolve.
Entry-point pricing is substantially lower than any other product on the market, with subscriptions starting at less than $4,000 a year for 50 TB of usable storage.
Security may not be sexy, but it’s fundamentally necessary. So, while other companies are chasing the latest shiny object (like generative AI), we are laser-focused on keeping our customers and their data safe. This strategy is validated by Scality’s inclusion in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant.
The driving power of partnerships
Scality continues to forge closer partnerships and integrations to serve our customers in every way possible. This year, we welcomed Peter Brennan in a new role as chief revenue officer, which reflects our mission to capture increasing market share in the thriving file and object storage space. Brennan is overseeing sales and marketing initiatives to increase revenue with a focus on partners and the channel, while expanding growth operations globally.
Our partners are essential to our success; our future lies in partnerships. To develop powerful coalitions in more focused sectors, we must expand our presence. This starts with a complete focus on the global channel and strategic alliances with software providers like Veeam. We have a long-standing relationship with Veeam, and being an inaugural launch partner for Veeam v12 is yet another recent milestone in the history of our deepening alliance.
Protecting what matters most to customers: Their data
In the current threat landscape, storage becomes an integral part of data security strategy. Our presence in the 2023 Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage, from our perspective, validates our dedication to assisting our customers in deploying storage that tackles the key business concerns of the day: cyber resilience, scalability, agility and cost-effectiveness.
As we provide enhancements to our solutions and expand our partner ecosystem, we remain committed to giving our customers the top solutions for their data storage — and security — needs.
